RE: Back Flow Devices?

Is this RV park on a hill/slope?
Sometimes a "check valve" is required on the lateral outside a home if the first sewer manhole upstream from the house lateral is greater elevation then the home. This is required so that if a sewer clog was to happen in the City's Sewer Main downstream of your lateral in the street, it would not back up in the home first, but come up out of the upstream manhole in the street.
I am guessing that this is the situation. The types of check valves installed at the home's lateral are probably a different type then what you have, since I only found one when I did a quick Google search from the product you gave, and does not look anything like what I am use to seeing. But would serve the same purpose.

RE: 1977 Midas with GMC chevy 400

Can't help with your Midas, but I just wanted to welcome another Comp BBQ team to our forum.
We compete out here in the West, team name "Tropical Heat BBQ".
Also one of the BOD's of the California BBQ Association.
Good luck in your comps,
Bill

RE: Seneca Tires

My 2006 Gulf Stream Ultra C5500 came with Michelin XRV tires --
225/70R19.5
Max Load Single 3640 lbs
Max Load Dual 3415 lbs
at 95 psi cold
Same here. No issues, with 21k miles (hear me knocking on wood).

RE: Tight Bridge

I believe the measurement (not including wheel covers/lugs) on the front wheels is around 86 inches, give or take. I measured once for ramp placement.
Chevy site says with mirrors extended, 115 inches, no mention with folded. Max cab width is 96 inches.
Your bridge height measurement would be a concern, I think mine rig is close to 12 feet.
I am not at home to verify measurments. I would recommend finding the unit you are interested in and measuring yourself. If it is that close, I would not rely on the manufacterers specs.
Also, what is the weight limit on that bridge? Can it hold 10 tons?
Good luck, hope it works out.

RE: NorCal camping suggestions for a 32' 5vr

Some folks might not consider it NoCal (really Central), but have you been to Camp Edison at Shaver Lake? Nice place, has hookups. Think your rig should fit OK.
Good luck,

RE: Pilot Stations for RV Gasoline

I have reviewed the Flying J information and I fail to see where it indicates that a Flying J has a dedicated RV lane at there locations. Where exactly do you see this ?
Looky here.

RE: Koni shocks for the Kodiak

Same here, added the Koni FSD's to my rig. Though I did not have the swaying issue that most complain about, it did improve the ride and reduce the rocking. Money well spent.

RE: Cutting Boards

What ever you do, please, DO NOT USE GLASS CUTTING BOARDS.
I use both Wood and Plastic. Have a couple of Boo's wood boards that are nice. I also have some large plastic ones I like to use when Q'ing. Both types work well.
Good luck,
Bill

RE: Gulfstream conquest 6319dk VS the Fourwinds Kodiak 34H

IMHO, the 19,500 lb Kodiak Class 5 chassis is simply NOT enough chassis to carry any model of RV, and most of the builders recognize this fact. four winds IS coming out with what appears to be a class 6 chassis with 30,000 lb GCWR, which holds some promise.
Denny
And the E350/E450 is OK? Lots of RV's built on these.
I think the problem is that the manufacturers try and build too big of coach on the chassis they have.
I feel the 19.5 K is fine for the smaller Super C's. In my case, mine is 15.4 UVW.
But, that is just IMHO.

RE: Gulfstream conquest 6319dk VS the Fourwinds Kodiak 34H

We have had our GS Conquest for 3.5 years now, and am very happy. The 8.1 has plenty of power, even out here in the mountains of CA. Issues have been minor, except for the Dometic fridge going out right after warranty is up, luckily I was one of the dumb ones who bought the extended warranty. I feel Kodiak handles well in the shorter versions, I did add the Koni's which improved the ride.
Good luck,
Bill

RE: Merced, CA recommendations...

When competing in a BBQ comp, I stayed at the Merced County Fairgrounds. Their web site says H/U sites are $20. It was OK, on grass under large trees, but nothing fancy.

RE: Camp Edison (Shaver Lake) Info needed

You guys will have a great time.
If you are not bringing a boat or watercraft, you can rent them at the marina. It is a beautiful lake to cruise around, and many places to stop and set up a day camp at. The water is cool, but enjoyable.
There are some nice hiking trails around the place, too.
And check out some of the shops in the town of Shaver Lake.
Have fun,
Bill

RE: Dometic recall

I called Dometic yesterday re: my Dometic RM2852 leaking ammonia. Yellow junk by the burner. I got turned down cold by their rep. They stopped replacing the burnes assembly in April 2008. They admit there is a problem but no more changing burners. Is this customer service. I was not notified of the recall. I saw a post on this forum.
I hope Dometic reads this
Same here. My fridge failed, took it in to service center to diagnose. They called Dometic, person was rude and said they would not cover. Rig is only 3.5 years old. I did buy extended warranty, hopfully I can get them to cover it.

RE: Best BBQ

BTW.....What the heck is a "green egg"
As Javaseuf pointed out, there is a picture of some on the first page of this post.
Basically, they are a different version of the original Kamado Ceramic type grill/smoker. Very nice units, can grill VERY hot, or cook low and slow. Great for pizzas, too.

RE: Best BBQ

If one wants to be technical, it's not a BBQ, it's a grill. BBQ is a way of life. :)
Amen!
To the OP, there is a new one out on the market. It is the ProQ. It is similar to a WSM, but can be used as a grill as well. And it is more portable then a WSM. But it is a charcoal unit, so I am not sure it meets your criteria.
I pre-ordered one, the Excel 20, back in May, should arrive here next week. I will share my thoughts after use.
ProBBQ
Green Eggs are very nice units, just a little fragile for camping IMHO. But if I had one, I would find a way to bring it.
If I am not placing a grate over the camp fire, I use a Weber Smokey Joe (18" Platinum or my Jr) for grilling, along with a Weber Q (hooked to 20lb tank). And I have a Camp Chef stove with grill box, which I have not used yet.
Good luck,

RE: Garlic Farm RV Park, Gilroy, CA

Yes, I have stayed at the one behind the Target store a couple of times and will go back.
I believe the name is Gilroy Country Garlic USA RV Park, unless they have changed it.
It is a newer park, so the trees are not established yet, (ie: not much shade). But it is clean and convenient.
Good luck,

RE: Smok'n boston butt and sauce

I got two butts on my Klose smoker as I write this, using Hickory and Apple wood logs.
You really need to use a meat thermo and take the butt to 195 or so if you are going to use it for Pulled Pork. About 165-175 if you are slicing.
It is hard to say how long, depends on the smoker and the temp. Between 1.5-2 hours per pound is what it should take, smoking at 225-250 degrees.
You can wrap in foil when it hits 165, that will speed up the cooking process. But you will not get that great bark if you do.
Good luck,
Bill
